General Information RSWT
Radial Shock Wave Therapy (RSWT) is a biomechancial treatment that uses mechanical shocks to create healing in tissues. The therapy is useful in chronic conditions and is often effective when all else has failed. Click HERE to see if your condition could be treatable with RSWT.

More General Information

Radial Shock Wave Therapy (RSWT) should not be confused with Focused Shock Wave Therapy (FSWT) which is used for the treatment of for example Kidney Stones. Although the same treatment type using mechanical shock waves for therapeutic effect RSWT is more gentle and does not require local analgesia.

Treatments are quick and relatively painless and are administered by HPC registered Podiatry and Physiotherapy practitioners with many years combined  experience in the treatment of your specific condition. Most treatment cycles are complete in between 3 and 5 treatments generally a week between each (3 to 5 weeks/visits to our Exeter Clinic).

If you are being recommended for RSWT by your Physiotherapist, Podiatrist, Chiropractor, Osteopath, Doctor or Surgeon all other aspects of your treatment will be continued under their care unless they ask us otherwise. We will only provide your RSWT treatment. RSWT is most effective as part of an overall management plan for your particular condition. For example, heel pain sufferers will still require orthotic devices to manage the underlying cause of mechanical heel pain. For more information visit www.northernhayclinic.com or speak to your referring Podiatrist. Current studies suggest that RSWT treatment is effective in about 75% of cases and your chance of a successful treatment will be greatly enhanced by taking your practitioners specific advices eg: stretching, resting etc.

Our aim is to get you back to a normal life ....... Quickly and without pain.
